Vocabulary from War Horse

There are some words that are a little bit new to us, so in groups we made a glosary with the definition, an example, an image, and some with a video. This is it:

  • PAT:

Definition: To tap gently with the open hand or with something flat.

Example: As Joey did a great job today, I patted him.

  • TROT:

Definition: To run or move with a fast pace.

Example: My horse has a special ability, he has a wonderful trot .

  • MARCH:                       

Definition: to walk with regular and measured tread.

Example: My horse march in the green grass.

  • NOD:

Definition: to make a slight.

Example:  Joey was working well so I noded  him.

  • PEER:

Definition:  To look, look at, watch, see, view,etc.

Example: Yesterday the horses were peering out of their stable.

  • SNIFF:

Definition: To inhale through the nose, usually in short rapid audible inspirations, as for the purpose of identifying a scent

Example: My horse is sniffing my hand.

  • NEIGH:

Definition: to yell, the cry of a horse

Example: I hear the neigh of the horse from the house

  • TOSS UP:

Definition: to throw, pitch, or fling, especially to throw lightly or carelessly

Example: They threw a coin to see who was getting the amount of money

  • WRIGGLE:

Definition: To twist and turn your body.

Example: My horse wriggle his nose with excitement whenever I show him food.
